Sadly, if you had tickets to the Kathleen Edwards/Hannah Georgas concert set for tonight at the Broadway Theatre, your Friday night schedule is now completely open — because the show’s been postponed. Cursed Friday the 13th!
According to Edwards, she’s been fighting through “weeks of suffering from symptoms of vocal strain and burnout,” and now she’s been forced to pull the plug and give those tired chords a rest. An apologetic Edwards promises she’ll reschedule the postponed dates as soon as possible, and tickets for the cancelled show will be honoured at that time.
Fair enough — it’s tough to pull off “singer-songwriter” when you can’t actually sing. Still, bummer — for Edwards, Georgas and their fans.
And also for us, because we ran a cool preview of the show with a neato illustration of the two ladies in our last issue! Writer Chris Morin worked hard! Illustrator Dakota McFadzean worked hard! Hell, even I worked a bit. Boo.
On the upside, faced with a choice between Edwards/Georgas and John K. Samson for the cover of that issue, we went with Samson. As far as I know, his vocal chords remain in tip-top shape, and he’s ready to roll for his show tomorrow night (Saturday 14) at Amigos.
