Brad Wall shuffled his Sask. Party cabinet this morning, dumping seven ministers to the back benches while bringing in four entirely new faces and three retreads as replacements. You can check all the names and details on CBC’s website.
Some of the dumped now-ex-ministers were widely expected to lose their jobs — former tourism, parks, culture and sport minister Bill Hutchinson, for example, who so brutally bungled the Film Tax Credit file, killing an entire industry in the process. (Although to be fair to Hutchinson, most people think he was merely the fall guy for a utterly stupid decision made right at the top of government.
A big shocker, however, is that Rob Norris, formerly the minister for advanced education, employment and immigration, has also been given the heave-ho! I’m not exactly shedding tears — Norris has always come off as one of the more arrogant and dismissive Saskies — but he’s been a key cog in Bad Brad’s Big Machine.
Which, of course, leads one to ask: what did you do to deserve the boot, Rob? Here’s hoping we’ll find out in the next few days — but unless Norris blows a gasket and spills the beans, I won’t be holding my breath.
